For
photographers, Mt. Rainier National Park has it all. There are breathtaking
concentrations of alpine flowers, frothy white waterfalls,
and
an abundance of wildlife reminiscent of an era gone by, when eagles and
bears roamed their homeland and indians lived in harmony with the land
below the glaciers of Mt. Rainier.
Our
base camp of operations will be our motel in Packwood, Washington, just
east of the park's east entry.
You
will learn how to shoot digital photos while bearing in mind the post production aspects that are best handled by Photoshop. In the "digital darkroom" you can control color and tonal corrections that were never possible when shooting film.
We will identify how to solve visual problems that would be much more difficult
to solve in a traditional darkroom. Learn
the importance of getting it right in the camera using the proper filters,
exposure and digital white balance.
Director,
Charles Campbell personally conducts these field trips in small, interactive
groups that foster the optimal learning environment. Mild walking and some short
hikes are accompanied by valuable on-site photo tips
that will enhance your skills as a nature photographer. Charles
taps into his extensive knowledge of this shooting location and personally
guides you to his favorite sites.
Carpooling is utilized during the workshop. Nearest airport/car rental is Seattle, WA. Not included: personal transportation to the event, no mileage or gas credits, no meals, no hotels, and no gratuities. Also not included: a five dollar, three-day state park permit per car in the car pool.
Lake
reflections here are among the most beautiful imaginable. Mt. Rainier makes
the perfect centerpiece of attention as it displays the many moods of light and season of this remarkable mountain.
The snow is rapidly melting under clear blue skies. Delicate alpine wildflowers such as these Marsh Marigolds burst through the snow; reaching out to greet sunlight and
warmth.
Simply put, the summer session is timed to photograph the profusion of wildflowers at their peak condition. The wildflower season here is brief and spectacular! The snowy upper reaches of Mt. Rainier always provides the perfect background.

Comet
Falls is a favorite destination with our groups.
Flower
scenes and frothy-cold cascades can
be photographed from the road or on short hikes.
